Chris Gloninger is an American meteorologist known for his work as the chief meteorologist at KCCI 8 in Des Moines, Iowa. He joined KCCI in July 2021 and has been recognized for his contributions to climate change reporting and emergency management. Chris developed an interest in weather after Hurricane Bob hit his hometown of Sag Harbor, New York.  He pursued a degree in meteorology from Plymouth State University and later earned a master’s degree in emergency management from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. Throughout his career, Chris has worked at several stations, including WHEC-TV in Rochester, New York, WISN-TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and NBC 10 Boston. He has covered a wide range of extreme weather events, including hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, and coastal flooding.

Chris has also been an instructor at the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center and Boston University School of Medicine. Chris has received multiple awards for his work, including three Emmys and several Wisconsin Broadcasters Association awards.
